Success at Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2015
12.10.2015
On Friday 9th October we attended the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2015, hosted by Truro and Penwith College and were delighted to win Apprentice Employer of the Year.
Two of our apprentices were also shortlisted for awards, John Foster (right) who was highly commended as the Hospitality Apprentice of the Year and Ilham Dani (below, left) who won Apprenticeship Achiever of the Year.
In 2008 Rick and Jill made the decision to start an apprenticeship programme which would invest in talented individuals, living locally, who were passionate about professional cooking. The main goal for the apprenticeship was to develop a programme which reflected the high standards of the organisation. We also wanted to demonstrate a real commitment to a long term training and development plan and clear investment in apprenticeships. It was designed with the industry in mind and with a view to ensuring a way of tackling any skill shortages and ensuring an ongoing up to date approach in an ever changing and challenging sector. They launched The Rick Stein Academy with Truro and Penwith College at the end of September this year to inspire, train and develop hospitality professionals in Cornwall.
The award ceremony included a dinner designed and prepared by Stephane Delourme, head chef at The Seafood Restaurant with assistance from chefs from The Rick Stein Academy at Truro and Penwith College.
