Dog-friendly rooms in the heart of harbour life

Above Rick Stein’s Café, right in the middle of Padstow, are three snug and modern rooms designed for simple coastal retreats. These cosy rooms offer a quiet base for exploring the harbour, the estuary and the winding streets of town.

Each room has the small comforts that make a stay feel easy: fresh Cornish milk in the fridge, good coffee, Birchall Tea and a tin of Stein’s biscuits. Guests can book tables at the café with priority and dogs are very much part of things here.

Your Experience

There’s a straightforwardness to staying above the café. You check in, head upstairs and, before long, feel settled. These are rooms to return to after a day out on the coast, whether that’s walking the cliffs, spending time on the beach or simply wandering Padstow’s streets.

The interiors are light and unfussy, with everything you need close at hand: a good shower, proper linen and thoughtful, practical details.

Mornings can begin slowly. Breakfast can be brought up to your room, or served at The Seafood Restaurant, giving you a relaxed start to the day before exploring. Dogs are welcome throughout, and tend to be well looked after, there’s usually a sausage involved.

Rick Stein’s Café

Downstairs, the café is part of daily life in Padstow. The menu draws on Rick’s travels, with a mix of well-known dishes and a few that regulars return for time and again, shellfish, spices, things cooked simply. It’s an easy place to drop into, whether for a quick lunch or a longer supper, with guests able to book ahead. Being just downstairs means you can take your time and not think about the walk home.

Location

Staying here puts you right at the centre of Padstow. The harbour is a short walk away, boats coming and going, people lingering by the water, gulls overhead. From there, the town opens out into narrow streets of small shops and galleries.

Beyond the harbour, the coastline is close. There are beaches in every direction, from wide stretches of sand to smaller, tucked-away coves. The Camel Trail offers an easy, level route along the estuary, while boats and sea safaris head out for a different view back towards the shore.
