A proper pub near Padstow in North Cornwall
The Cornish Arms is a local village pub just outside Padstow, serving good real ales from St Austell Brewery and a simple, classic pub menu where everyone is welcome.
Join us in the Cornish countryside for British pub favourites like fish and chips, burgers, ham, egg and chips and steak and ale pie, or if a few quiet pints are what you fancy, pull up a stool or grab a table in our drinkers’ bar where you can also order a few bar bites to round off a very pleasing time indeed.
In summer, our beer garden comes alive with woodfired pizzas, perfect for a lazy alfresco supper in the Cornish sunshine with a glass of something cold. There are garden games to keep the family entertained, so everyone can relax. Our pizza chefs fire up the ovens and the prawn and chilli pizza is a real favourite.
During the winter cosy up by the fire after a bracing coastal walk to enjoy a glorious Sunday roast cooked by Head Chef Ash and team. Cornish beef with all the trimmings will be the hero on the menu, of course. You just need to choose between a glass of decent red or a pint of your favourite St Austell Brewery ale to complete a very pleasing few hours with friends and family.
Booking is recommended as we can get very busy.

Sheltered by woodlands on the grassy grounds of our pub are six shepherd’s huts, offering peaceful countryside accommodation near Padstow and within reach of some of Cornwall’s favourite restaurants, beaches and coast walks.
Each shepherd’s hut is warm and bright with an en-suite shower room and kitchenette. Complete with underfloor heating, Nespresso coffee machines and Robert’s ‘Revival’ Radios. The huts boast a cosy double size bed with beautifully crisp linen, all designed to comfortably accommodate two adults. Locally sourced stone is used to form a private patio on which to enjoy your morning coffee (and nightcap) in the fresh air, without being overlooked.

With the support of our friends at St Austell Brewery, we’re very pleased to be serving a limited-edition beer in memory of our longest serving barman, Boxer.
Boxer pulled pints behind our bar for an amazing 50 years. Having lived in St Merryn his whole life, he first got behind the bar at The Cornish Arms back in December 1970. A roofer by trade, he worked part-time serving and chatting with locals and holiday makers alike – many of which returned year after year to see him and hear his tales of the area. His recommendation from the bar is a pint of St Austell Brewery’s finest, Tribute – in his understated words, ‘not a bad drinking beer that.’
Very few knew him by his actual name Brian, as the nickname Boxer had been with him since his school days in Padstow. The story goes, he was chased down the road by a Pit Bull, which his classmates wrongly thought was a Boxer, from then on they would shout ‘here comes Boxer!’ Funny how names can stick.
Away from the pub, Boxer supported Manchester United and in his younger years played in goal for Wadebridge Town FC.
Thank you, Boxer, for all your hard work, local tales and many great times.
