Charity Lunches are back at Winchester
Meet the Charity – Home-Start Winchester
After great success in previous years, we are bringing back our charity lunches to support fantastic charities across Cornwall and the south of England. Last year we raised over £10,000 for our selected charities and this year we hope to surpass that.
At Winchester, we’ll be supporting Home-Start Winchester. Home-Start work with families with at least one child under the age of five who are going through difficult times. Parents who are lonely and isolated, coping with twins, triplets or several pre-school children, ill health or special needs, relationship difficulties, first time parenting and parents who are dealing with child behavioural problems.
Volunteers which are recruited and trained visit families within their homes a few hours a week to offer informal, friendly and confidential emotional and practical support.
Home-Start Winchester is one of 200 schemes within the national Home-Start movement, each of which is an independent charity which supports families in local communities. Having supported nearly 35,000 families since the charity was founded, this service continues to be just as needed, today.

How your donation could help
Unfortunately, with costs increasing the attendees of the centre contribute towards transport and their meals. Here are how your donations could help:
- £3 will enable the charity to train a previous Home-Start parent to become a peer volunteer
- £10 will go towards training a local volunteer
- £30 will allow a family to attend a nurturing and supportive family group for half-term
- £50 will enable a fully trained volunteer to visit a local family in crisis once a week for 6 months
At the restaurant, from Tuesday 2nd January to Tuesday 29th January we will be giving the option to our customers to dine from our charity lunch menu, a 3-course set menu for £19.95 plus a £2.50 donation. Last year, our charity lunches were a huge success and we raised over £10,000 for our selected charities. This year, we’re making it our effort to beat that.
