Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in London

Right on the Thames, just along from Richmond, our Barnes restaurant has the sort of riverside calm that always makes us think of Cornwall. You can sit and watch the rowers slip by while we cook some of Rick’s best fish dishes, turbot with hollandaise, grilled lobster with fines herbes or sole Véronique, which has been on our menus for years and still feels exactly right.

When the sun is out, we can’t think of anything better than a seat in the courtyard with a bottle from Charlie’s wine list and a plate of oysters to while away the afternoon.

The restaurant is in good hands with General Manager Luca running the show. He grew up on Ischia, a lovely little island in the Bay of Naples, fishing with his family and learning just how good seafood can be when it’s straight from the water. In the kitchen, Head Chef Jack leads the team with the steady hand of someone who’s cooked in some of London’s best restaurants, keeping our classics alive and well.

Taste of 50 Years Menu

To celebrate our 50th anniversary, Rick and Jack have brought together a special four-course Taste of 50 Years menu that includes some of our best dishes from the last five decades. Served for lunch and dinner, it’s rooted in a love of fresh, seasonal ingredients and simple, confident cooking.

Think fillets of Cornish brill with a rich sauce and shavings of fresh truffle, Cornish lamb from Philip Warren served pink with peas and wild garlic, and lemon sole dressed in shrimp and brown butter. Finish with a vanilla rice pudding, brûléed on top and served with Szechuan-spiced pineapple, rounding things off with a nostalgic twist.

With a choice for each course and stories behind every plate, it’s a menu that’s best enjoyed with others, reminiscing, comparing and raising a glass to the simple pleasure of good food.

Four courses | £70

We enjoyed our 15th wedding anniversary here today. Fantastic venue in the river. The food was everything we hoped. Wonderful food but reasonably priced. We were very pleased. To top it all off, the team were very attentive and very friendly.
