Our flagship seafood restaurant near Padstow Harbour

Our flagship seafood restaurant, in the heart of Padstow, was opened by Rick and Jill Stein in 1975. Nearly 50 years on, our menu still reflects everything that they set out to achieve – a celebration of great quality fish and shellfish, simply cooked. Head Chef, Pete Murt, leads the way now, with his team perfectly recreating Rick’s recipes time and time again for guests to experience – including lobster thermidor, turbot hollandaise and Indonesian seafood curry.

In 2024, The Seafood Restaurant was awarded the AA Food Service Award for its excellent standards of restaurant services and hospitality. The awards praised our restaurant for the way it “evokes such a positive feeling and sense of place” and our exceptional front of house team for their sparkling hospitality, applauding them as ‘relentless ambassadors for the food and local area”.

Our Menu

Our menu, guided by the seasons, showcases the best of local and sustainable seafood. Look forward to classic dishes, from our famous Dover sole to seasonal creations that highlight the best of Cornish produce.

The Seafood Bar

At the heart of our restaurant is the seafood bar, where people watchers and real food enthusiasts gather. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed chef’s table experience, choosing from our menu while watching our team shuck oysters and pour drinks. It’s the perfect spot to learn more about our seafood and interact with our knowledgeable staff.

To drink

Our extensive wine list, with each bottle chosen (and tasted) by Charlie Stein has something for everyone and every occasion, and behind the bar you’ll find our celebrated barman, Norbert, who has won various mixology competitions including Axia Spirit and Nc’nean organic whisky. Trying one of his cocktails is a must before or after your meal.

£35 Set Lunch Menu

For £35, enjoy a three-course autumn set menu, perfect for a cosy afternoon as the days grow cooler.

Begin with your choice of seafood quenelles with a crayfish butter Nantua sauce and light buttery fleurons to start, followed by Rick’s cheesy chicken, leek and cider gratin, a dish he deems ‘the perfect autumnal lunch.’ For dessert look forward to pouring plenty of butterscotch sauce on your steamed butterscotch pudding with lashings of créme anglaise.

Join us daily 12pm to 2pm.

Excellent value lunch set menu with a good range of choices. The mussels were fresh with a garlic sauce. The hake with confit onion melted lovingly together. The seabass curry was gorgeous with sides to match. But the star of the show was the cheesecake with salted caramel – simply exquisite.
