Stein’s Stories: Laura
Meet Laura, General Manager at Stein’s Fish & Chips
Laura joined our team at Stein’s Fish and Chips in Padstow as a supervisor in 2017, and has worked her way up to now be general manager – the ‘Chippy Queen’.
She started her hospitality career as a housekeeper at The Ritz, no less, and subsequently worked at St George’s School in Harpenden and St Edmund’s College in Ware, both as general manager.
When Laura first moved to Cornwall with her husband in 2017, she joined the team at Catch in Mawgan Porth as their Assistant Manager before making the move to our fish and chip shop in Padstow. She also worked as a host at The Seafood Restaurant before moving back to the chippy fulltime and working her way up to Restaurant Manager in 2021. Then, on International Women’s Day in 2024, her leadership and enthusiasm saw her promoted to General Manager.
When dining in our restaurants, Laura particularly enjoys classic fish and chips with a glass of Champagne or Camel Valley Rosé. Her perfect combination.
Away from work, she loves to visit her daughter, Charlie, who lives in Bangkok, when she can. Over the years, they’ve also explored Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong together. Closer to home, Laura loves to spend her days off exploring Cornwall and beyond in her van, enjoying barbeques and firepits in the summer.
